How Do I Know I’m Saved?

“How do I know I’m saved? Not because I’ve made a decision, nor because I see the evidence of moral improvement in my life, nor even because I believe. Rather, I know that I have been saved, and that I am being saved, and that I will one day be saved because God has promised Christ and his righteousness to me. He is the object of my hope – that body crucified and risen, my guard against doubt and fear. Not only is Christ sufficient for my justification; he is sufficient for my assurance of being justified. And this has been the gospel embraced by evangelical men and women throughout the centuries. To ignore the past is, as has been often quoted, to be doomed to repeat it.”
