LORD’S DAY 19
51. What does this glory of Christ, our Head, profit us?
First, that by His Holy Spirit He pours out heavenly gifts upon us, His members;1Ephesians 4:10-12 then, that by His power He defends and preserves us against all enemies.2Psalm 2:9; John 10:28-30; 1 Corinthians 15:25-26; Acts 2:33
52. What comfort is it to you that Christ “shall come to judge the living and the dead”?
That in all my sorrows and persecutions, with uplifted head I look for the very same person, who before offered Himself for my sake to the tribunal of God, and has removed all curse from me, to come as Judge from heaven,3Luke 21:28; Romans 8:23-24; Philippians 3:20-21; Titus 2:13 who shall cast all His and my enemies into everlasting condemnation,42 Thessalonians 1:6, 10; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Matthew 25:41 but shall take me with all His chosen ones to Himself, into heavenly joy and glory.5Acts 1:10-11; Hebrews 9:28
